Serving the Needs of the Visually Impaired
Welcome to the web site of the Ulverscroft Foundation, a UK based registered charity which supports the visually impaired.

Frederick A Thorpe OBE 1914-1999
Our Founder, Frederick A. Thorpe, amongst many
other awards nationally and internationally, received the Order of the British
Empire in January 1969 and was made an Honorary Doctor of Law by The University
of Leicester in 1979 in recognition of his work for the visually
impaired.
There are now more people with visual impairment than ever before. This is
because the developments made in ophthalmology have cured many people of total
blindness, but in some cases, have been unable to restore more than partial
sight. As the number of elderly people in the population grows, the proportion
of people with age related eye diseases increases. The Ulverscroft Foundation
needs your support in its work to help those people suffering from visual
impairment (blindness and partial sight).
